The Job Loss Recovery Program™ (JLRP) Certification Course

Purpose:

The purpose of the course is to introduce career, EAP, counselors, coaches and HR professionals to a scientifically proven process to guide individuals or groups to regain mental toughness and emotional resilience throughout the job search process. The course is based on the instructor’s bestselling book, and named the best emotional recovery book by the Washington Post (www.washingtonpost.com).

As professionals who work with individuals who have lost their job, we know that a client who does not project positive emotional energy is a less effective job seeker, despite the best resume or job search skills. We also know that many clients in an extended job search need more than encouragement to sustain their motivation. This program is an answer to that missing piece – a proven process of guided visualization that inspires the client to see, to believe and then take the action to move them towards their new career future.

Objectives:

After this workshop, learners will be able to:

 
• Understand the impact of unexpected job loss and how coaching can help.
• Learn how emotional mastery is needed to successfully move forward.
• Explain the JLRP scientifically proven process to clients along with the supporting research as published in the peer reviewed “Consulting Psychology Journal”.
• Participate in role play(s) during class and group discussions.
• Create your own visualization script and deliver the script.
• Guide and practice coaching skills with a client using the JLRP process throughout the course.
• Explain  how high profile athletes use visualization to build confidence and win.
• Receive access to extra coaching tools and support through the course through the JLRP website.
• Listed on WCI’s Find a Coach section under Career Development.

Result:

The ability to integrate the JLRP into your coaching, counseling, human resource or EAP programs to bring a system of humanity into the job search process that also significantly reduces landing time to a new job.

Who Should Attend:

This program is designed for people in the following roles:

• Career counselors, EAP professionals, coaches, human resource managers, psychologists and internal or external coaches.

Program Approvals:

• NBCC approved for 8 contact hours and CEUs approved for 8 Hours

Content of 5 Weekly Classes:

Week 1:

• Job loss impact, The Job-Loss Recovery Program, client questionnaires, and supporting research.
• Use of visualization today by athletes and in health care.

Week 2:

• Discuss homework: Visualization Module 1.
• Group presentations to build your practice.
• Engage a practice client for work during the course.

Week 3:

• Discuss homework: Visualization Module 2.
• Introduce and facilitate JLRProgram Module 1 with clients.

Week 4:

• Discuss client’s Module 1 and questionnaire results
• Protocol for working with clients over three coaching sessions

Week 5:

• Discuss client’s Module 2 and questionnaire results
• Client case presentations
• Script and deliver visualizations

Program Delivery Options:

• Five, two-hour (not all are two-hours) webinars through GoToMeeting.
• The first webinar two hours; webinars two through five are now 1 1/2 hours each (no break)

Time Commitment:

• Class runs just under two hours each week and there’s a quick break half way through each class.
• Advance work for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th classes is approximately 2 hours per week.
• There is an extra week break between classes 4 and 5.

Technical Requirements:

• A good telephone or computer headset is suggested. You have the choice of listening through your computer or a telephone.
• Corded phones work best.
• Do not use a speakerphone or cell phone because they often bring distracting static or echoes into the call.
• If you use a cordless handset or wireless headset, make sure it’s of excellent quality.
• Computer to view power point presentations during the class.
