Her 30+ year career spans human resources, leadership, talent management, career development, and coaching experience as a Human Resources Director, Assistant Director, and Human Resources Development Consultant/Coach. She is well-versed in a full range of leadership and talent management functions including learning and development, leadership development, performance management and improvement, change management, team-building, conflict resolution, work group development, career development, recruiting and staffing, and employee/labor relations.
Prior to co-founding Workplace Coach Institute, Inc. SM , she was the Director, Instructor, and Mentor Coach for Leadership Coach Academy, and she served as Director of Assessment Academy. Since 2001, she has served as President of People Potential Group® (www.peoplepotentialgroup.com) where she provides executive, leadership, people management, team, emotional and social intelligence, respectful workplace, career development, and life coaching. People are drawn to her warm, empathetic, creative, inspirational, holistic, and resourceful coaching style. She serves on the board of directors for the Career Management Alliance, is the blogging expert for the Career Thought Leaders Consortium on career assessments, and is a founding member of the Certified Leadership Coaches Consortium.
Nancy has a master’s degree in industrial organizational psychology, a bachelor’s degree in sociology, and graduated from the Institute of Life Coach Training. She is an ICF-accredited Professional Certified Coach and has earned numerous leadership, career and life coaching certifications: Certified Leadership & Talent Management Coach, Certified EQ Career Strategist, Certified Life Coach, Certified Career Management Coach, Credentialed Career Master, Certified Personal Brand Strategist, and Certified Job & Career Transition Coach. She is qualified and experienced in administering 100+ assessments and is regarded by many as an assessment guru.
Outside the office, Nancy enjoys singing in a choir, playing in a couple’s bridge group, golfing, and sailing. She and her husband, Cal, make frequent trips to Denver to spend time with their two adult children. Nancy is a consummate reader of books on leadership and career topics. And, she enjoys reading these journals: Industrial Organizational Psychology Journal, Consulting Psychology Journal, HR Magazine, and Harvard Business Review.

Certified Leadership Development CoachSM
Purpose:
The purpose of the Leadership Development Coaching program is to prepare consultants, coaches, human resources professionals, counselors, and leaders to learn proven techniques to coach leaders and aspiring leaders in the workplace worldwide.
Objectives:
This program combines the global application of leadership, people management and coaching theory, ICF core competencies, and coaching techniques. The outcome is an engaged and inspired workforce led by principled ambassadors of humanity.
Key learning objectives are as follows.
- Learn specific coaching models, skills, strategies, techniques, and questions to enhance your coaching capabilities.
- Practice using the 11 ICF Core Competencies and the 9-Step Coaching Conversation Model and receive feedback.
- Administer a 360° leadership assessment and co-create a Leadership Development Action Plan (L-DAP).
- Know how to set up a coaching engagement within a client organization.
- Raise clients’ self-awareness through the use of research-based assessments and a “coach-approach” delivery.
- Be familiar with the emotional intelligence model and assessments that tie to it.
- Add value to coaching through the use of a coaching portfolio and a complete set of coach and client forms.
- Understand how to integrate leadership coaching with a company’s overall talent management program.
- Know how to use the Coaching Winners Competency Model and the “15 Building Blocks to Becoming a Transformational Leader Model” to identify the most important areas to work on.
- Understand various leadership styles, what differentiates them, and how they link to staff needs.
- Obtain a plethora of leadership development resources.
- Increase your knowledge of research specific to leadership coaching.
- Understand how to measure a leader’s coaching progress and calculate the R.O.I. of coaching.
- Learn coaching techniques to capture a leader’s values and brand.
- Optional - Become certified in: Page Work Behavior Inventory, Golden Personality Type Profiler, and AAI 360° Leadership Assessment.

International Coach Federation (ICF) for 28 Approved Coach Specific Training Hours (ACSTH) with mentor coaching; OR 25 for the course without mentor coaching.
- HRCI re-certification CEUs: 19.5 CEUs for the course; OR, 24.5 for the course plus the three optional leadership assessment certification training programs ($600 extra, details below)
- Board Certified Coach (BCC) for up to 51.2 hours

Time Commitment:
- Class runs close to two hours each week and there’s a quick break halfway through each class.
- Prior to each class, you’ll spend no more than 2-3 hours completing your weekly reading/ assignments, and some weeks you’ll also take an assessment.
Technical Requirements:
- A good telephone headset or corded phone.
- Cordless handset or wireless headset, if of excellent quality.
Optional Certification:
To earn and use the Certified Leadership Development Coach SM designation, you must complete all of the following requirements.
- Attendance: Miss no more than two live classes and listen to an audiotape of missed classes.
- Reading/Assessments: Complete all reading and assessment assignments prior to each class.
- Coaching in Class: Practice role of coach, client, and observer.
- Buddy Coaching: Complete 5, one-hour buddy coaching calls with another student.
- Program Learning Review: Take a multiple-choice exam and answer 75% correctly for a passing score.
- Mentor Coaching: Complete 3 mentor coaching sessions with Nancy Branton, your instructor, as part of your client case study. This fee is $450 and is in addition to the fee for the CLTMC program. Mentor coaching can be waived if you are an experienced leadership coach and/or an ICF accredited coach.
- Client Case Study: Coach a current or prospective leader in an organization for at least three sessions (length of each call should be 45 minutes), complete five mentor coaching prep forms before each of the mentor coaching sessions, and submit one Leadership Development Action Plan and one Client Feedback form after the third coaching session.
